FRANCA is currently fundraising so that we can take the next step and incorporate as an NPO registered with the Japanese government. We are asking interested persons to join national FRANCA (annual fees 10,000 yen) in order to raise the necessary funds.
If you are interested please join the national FRANCA email list and ask for more information.
Membership of the FRANCA email lists is currently free, so even if you are not ready to join please sign up and see what is going on.

Once again Arudou Debito was kind enough to join us to talk about FRANCA and the issues it is being formed to address.
After Debito's talk there was a brief discussion of how the Sendai branch of FRANCA should proceed. Four areas of interest were identified, and volunteers were solicited to take charge of each.
The four areas were:
Networking with other groups (Ben Shearon)
Lobbying local government, institutions, and politicians (unclaimed)
Publicity (Ryan Hagglund and Antonio Park)
Membership (Jim Smiley and Mark Mino-Thompson)
We hope to have another meeting later in the year to discuss our progress and refine our goals and action plan.

Sendai FRANCA's inagural meeting had 16 people gathering in Sendai's Fukushi Plaza to listen to Debito Arudou explain the background and goals for FRANCA, the Foreign Residents and Naturalized Citizens Association.
Audience members kept the presenter on his toes with some tough questions, and the session finished with a decision to create a mailing list, recruit more members, and discuss the next step for the group.
